Elk Mounts

Elk are part of the group Cervinae in the Deer family and can be found in North America and Asia (Siberia). Elk have been introduced to other countries, they have adapted well. They are also known as Wapiti, a shawnee word meaning white rump. In European countries the name Elk is confusing as Elk or Elch is the name used for Moose. Elk habitats range from forested to forest-edge and they enjoy plant-life, grass, and even bark for food. Their bugle is iconic and most commonly heard during rut. The iconic antlers can grow up to 2.5 centimeters a day and the North American Elk carries the largest antlers, which can weigh upwards of 40 lbs. Below is a gallery of elk mounts.
