FAQ’s

  • We work hard to keep our turnaround times competitive. We, however, do not take any shortcuts and always ensure each mount is a quality product. Our current turnaround time varies, but on average it runs 12 to 14 months from the date of deposit. A 50% deposit is required before work begins.

  • Properly skin the hide off the body of the animal as soon as possible. We are happy to cape it off the head for you. Keep the skin cool and give us a call to make drop off arrangements. If it is not possible to bring the raw skin to us quickly, freezing the skin is a good option.

  • We prefer the dorsal cut.

  • We use a shipping depot located in Wasilla, Alaska that will properly handle your items so it can get to us safely.

  • Most outfitters use their preferred broker, if they do not have a preferred broker, you can choose your own.

  • You must use a broker to export/import your sheep from Mexico to us in Wyoming.

  • Please contact us before shipping any items. When shipping, print off our shipping form and include your contact information and any hunting license information. Place this form INSIDE THE BOX. Then, contact us to let us know your trophy will be coming and when we should expect it to arrive. If you’re dropping something off, have your hunting license information and your contact information accompanying your trophy.

  • Your cape needs to be properly fleshed by a professional taxidermist or properly trained guide/outfitter before salting. This involves the ears, eyelids, nostrils and lips being properly turned and fleshed. Please do not attempt to salt your cape or skin before bringing it to us, as this will make fleshing and turning much more difficult and possibly cause irreversible damage.

  • Please contact us before shipping any items. If your ram skin and horns/skull are raw, we recommend freezing the skin and shipping the skin separately, on 2nd day air. The horns/skull can be shipped in a separate package, regular ground. If the skin has been properly fleshed, salted and dried (by your outfitter or taxidermist) and the horns/skull are clean, you may send them together in one package on regular ground.

  • We can arrange for professional shipping. You are also welcome to pick up your mount at our studio in Cody. Please be prepared to bring an enclosed trailer for large mounts.

  • Always display taxidermy mounts in a climate controlled area and away from direct sunlight. Use a duster and damp rag with windex to regularly clean your mount. Always work in the direction of the natural hair patterns. Do not use a vacuum on your mount. We use the best procedures during the mounting processes that ensure the longevity of your trophy and prevent future damage. However, we highly advise having a professional exterminator to inspect your trophy room periodically to prevent any unwanted pests that may be attracted to organic materials.

  • Each trophy is assigned a four digit number upon arrival. This number is physically punched into the skin. We also attach an additional plastic tag with another unique number that is assigned to your skin. This gives us two ways to ensure that we can identify your cape after tanning.

  • We do not make antlers or sheep replicas in our studio, but we work hand in hand with the best replica artists in the country. Please contact us to find out who we recommend for your specific project.

  • You must use a broker to get your shipment from overseas to us. If the shipment does not need to go to a USDA facility, they may ship directly to us. If a USDA facility is required, your broker can ship to our tannery. Contact us for more details.

  • Occasionally we will purchase capes that are in good, mountable condition. Contact our studio for more information.
